Study these rules carefully
1- Person + who / that + verb
في هذة
الحالة لا يمكننا حذف ضمير الوصل
EX. A lawyer is a person
who / that speaks for people in a court.
2- Person + who / that/ whom + subject + verb
في هذة
الحالة يمكننا حذف ضمير الوصل
EX. The student ( who/ that / whom) you punished is my
son.
3. Person + preposition + whom + subject + verb
في حالة وجود حرف جر لا يمكننا استخدام who or that
و انما نستخدم whom فقط
EX. I punished the boy
with whom I was angry.
4. Thing + which /
that + verb
في هذة الحالة لا يمكننا حذف ضمير الوصل
EX. The dog which/ that chases me belongs to
Ali .
EX. I bought the story which/ that was
expensive.
5. Thing + which /
that + subject + verb
في هذة
الحالة يمكننا حذف ضمير الوصل
EX. The story ( which / that ) I bought was
exciting.
ملحوظة ( 1)
لا يمكن استخدام that اذا سبقها comma ',' او حرف جر
EX.The story , whichPI bought , was
exciting .
But CThe story , that QÎI bought . was
exciting.
EX. This is the bike
on which P I go to school.
But This is the bike
on that QÎ I go to school.

لا يمكن استخدام who اذا سبقها
حرف جر
EX. I phoned Ali with
who Q I play tennis.
But we can say :
EX. I phoned Ali who I
play tennis with.PP
6. Place + where +
subject + verb
EX. This is the school
where I work .
ملحوظة (3)
لا نستخدم where اذا سبقها
حرف جر او وجد في الجملة التي تليها حرف جر للمكان ( in , on , at , to ) و في هذة
الحالة نستخدم ( which
)
و نتبع احدي القاعدتين التاليتين
A Place + preposition which
+ subject + verb
A Place + which +
subject + verb ….+ preposition
EX. This is the
school in which I work . PP
OR EX.
This is the school which I work in . PP
ملحوظة (4)
لا نستخدم where اذا جاء
بعدها فعل و انما نستخدم which بدلا منها
APlace + which + verb
EX. I live in the
house which PP overlooks the river.
But we don't say I live in the house
where Q overlooks the river.
7. Time + when +
subject + verb
2004 is the year when
Sarah was born.
ملحوظة ( 5(
لا نستخدم when اذا سبقها او جاء بعدها حرف جر للزمان و لكن
نستخدم which
و تكون القاعدة كما يلي
A Time which + subject
+ verb …..+ preposition
ORA Time + preposition
which + subject + verb
2004
is the year which Sarah was born in .
2004 is the year in
which Sarah was born.

Person/ thing + whose + person/ thing
لابد ان يسبقها اسم و ياتي بعدها اسم و لا يفصلها عن الاسم الذي بعدها فاصل
EX. I saw the boy whose father
is a doctor.

يوجد
نوعين من جمل الوصل :
(1)
جمل تعطي معلومة ضرورية او مهمة عن الشخص او الشئ او المكان و في هذا النوع لا
نستخدم (,) comma
EX. My uncle who / that is a doctor lives
in Maadi .
جملة ( who / that is a doctor ) هي جملة
وصل اساسية لان المتحدث له اكثر من عم لذلك ضروري ان يحدده و يميزه عن باقي
الاعمام بجملة اساسية.
(2) جمل تعطي معلومة زيادة او غير ضرورية عن الشخص او
الشئ او المكان و في هذا النوع يجب ان نضع جملة الوصل بين فصلتين ( ,……….,
) two commas
EX. My uncle , who
is a doctor , lives in Maad.
هنا جملة (
, who is a doctor ,)
جملة وصل غير ضرورية حيث ان المتحدث ليس لدية الا عم واحد.
(9) تستخدم ( what ) كضمير وصل و لكنه لا يعود علي اسم قبله كما هو الحال مع
الضمائر السابقة, فقد ياتي قبله فعل و تكون الجملة الموصولة مفعول و قد ياتي اول
الجملة فتكون جملة الوصل فاعل للجملة.
EX.I didn't understand what
you said.
جملة وصل مفعول
لانها سبقها فعل
EX. What you did isn't acceptable.
جملة وصل فاعل الجملة
)10 ) تستخدم That و ليس Who او Which اذا جاء اي
من الكلمات الاتية قبل الاسم :
All , any , some , one , only , every , many ,
much , few , no
EX. I lent her all the money that
she needed.
لكن اذا جاءت of بعد اي من الكلمات السابقة نستخدم which او whom
EX. I took five pictures , all of which
are not clear.
(11) تستخدم that بعد صفات التفضيل :
EX. Sarah is the most beautiful girl that I
have ever met.
(12) تستخدم which فقط و ليس that عندما نشير الي مضمون الجملة التي تسبقها:
EX. He succeeded in the exam , which made his
parents happy.
)13) يمكننا حذف ضمير الوصل اذا جاء بعده فعل مبني
للمجهول ( be + p.p
)
و في هذة الحالة يحذف V. To Be و ياتي بعد الاسم التصريف الثالث.
EX. Novel written by Naguib Mahfouz are known
everywhere.
و اصل الجملة السابقة كان كذلك :
EX. Novel which were written by Naguib
Mahfouz are known everywhere.
