ÆHe is Jonathan Swift.
2 – What is the setting of the story (time and place) ?
ÆThe place is England , time (late 17th century and early 18th century)
3 – What did Gulliver want to do besides being a surgeon?
ÆHe wanted to travel and explore the world.
4 – Why did Gulliver usually have plenty of free time on the ship? ÆAs he was a surgeon and work wasn't needed always.
5 – How did he make use of his time ?
ÆHe spent his time reading and learning several languages.
6 – What was the name of the land of the little people?
ÆIt was called Lilliput?
7 – Was the name " Lilliput" an appropriate name for them ?
ÆYes, I think so as they were very small or tiny.

ÆYes, he was as he could end the fight between them peacefully.

ÆBecause he didn't want to put free people in prison. This showed that he was a fair and honest man who didn't like to hurt people.

25 – How was Gulliver kind to the people of Lilliput as well as the people of Blefuscu? ÆHe set the six people of Lilliput free and refused to  help the king of Lilliput to imprison the people of Blefuscu.

ÆBy saying that he was no longer a hero in Lilliput.

Æ1 - Flimnap the treasurer was angry because G. was costing too much.
Æ2 – Skyresh was angry because Gulliver hadn't kept many of his promises.
Æ3 – the navy officer was angry because his job was no longer important after Gulliver had taken all the ships of Blefuscu.
28 – Why didn't Gulliver want to fight the king or destroy Mildendo? and what did he do instead?
ÆBecause he remembered the people of Lilliput and how the king was kind to him. He decided to escape peacefully.
29 – What did Gulliver decide to do with the damaged boat?
ÆHe planned to repair it to return to his country(England)
30 – What made John Biddle Finally believe Gulliver's story?
ÆWhen Gulliver showed him the tiny animals and the painting of the king.
31 – Where did Gulliver get the money that made him buy the large house?      ÆHe got the money from selling the tiny animals.

Chapter one

       A - Answer the following questions :

1 – What profession was Lemuel trained in ? What other subjects did he study?
@ He was trained in surgery or medicine , he also studied languages and sailing.
2 – Was his voyage to Lilliput the first time he had sailed?
@No, as he had travelled many  years before that.
3 – How did Gulliver come to Lilliput?
@His ship was destroyed by a violent storm , then he swam to the shore alone.
4 – Why did the Lilliputians fasten Gulliver to the ground? – Why did they use so many ropes? @Because they were afraid of him as he was very big. – They used so many ropes  because their ropes were very small.
5 – Why didn't Gulliver break the ropes and get free of the tiny people?               @Because he didn't want to be hurt more or he was afraid to hurt people .
6 – How did Gulliver get to the capital City?
@He was carried on a machine pulled by horses.
7 – Where did he stay in the capital city?
@He stayed in a large  building outside the city.
8 – Why could not he go anywhere ? @Because he was chained to the gates by legs.
9 – Why did the guards arrest six people and push them towards Gulliver?  
 @The guards arrested them because they shot arrows at Gulliver.
10 – What did Gulliver do with the six men?
@He put five of them in his pocket and picked up the sixth in his hand.
B - Read the quotation and answer the questions :

1 – Who said this to whom?  @Gulliver to the little man standing on him.
2 – What happened just before he said this?
@He realized that he was tied and saw a man with a bow and arrow on his body.
3 – What happened after he had said this?
@He tried to stand up so the men began to shot him with arrows.

Chapter two
A - Answer the following questions :

1. What did Gulliver do to the six men who had shot arrows at him? What was the result of his action?
@He let them go. The guards told the King about Gulliver’s kindness, and the King in return was kinder to him(He ordered to make him a bed).
2. Why did the King make a law saying that people needed to pay for a licence to see Gulliver?
@There were not enough people to work in the fields because so many came to see Gulliver. If the people had to pay for a licence, they wouldn’t come.
3. Why did the King of Lilliput worry that he could not afford to keep Gulliver?
 @It took a lot of food to feed him because he was so big.
1 – How did Gulliver learn the language of Lilliput?
@by six of the king's advisers.
2 – What did the king tell Gulliver to do before he could set him free? @He asked him to let his soldiers search him for any weapons.
3 – What would the king do with the things found in Gulliver's pockets?     @He said that they would keep them and return them when he would leave or pay for the lost things.
4 – Why didn't the soldiers find everything in Gulliver's pockets? @Because he kept some things in a secret pocket.
5 – Which of Gulliver's things interested the king the most? Which was the strangest to him?    @The guns, sword and the watch was the strangest to him as he didn't understand what it was.

@He invited him to watch the best athletes and see The army.

@Skyresh Bolgolam and he wanted Gulliver to make some promises.

2- What do you think is the real message Gulliver is trying to express?
I think that he tried to tell them and the king that he wanted to be free.
3- What is the result of this kind behavior later on?
Gulliver's situation improved and the king made him a bed.

c - Find the mistake in each of the following sentences and correct it:

1 -In Lilliput, people who opened an egg at the larger end would be awarded.
Punished.
2 -People who took part in rebellions at Lilliput always ran away to Blefuscu, where they were killed.      Welcomed.
Chapter three
A - Answer the following questions :

1 – Recall why Blefuscu and Lilliput are at war ? Do you think they have  a good reason for fighting?
Æ Because Blefuscu welcomes the rebels from Lilliput. I think it is wrong for a country to welcome rebels from another country. Another opinion, the law is silly and shouldn't exist.
2 – How did Gulliver get to Blefuscu? How far away was it?
ÆHe walked most of the way and swam in the deepest part, it was about 800 meters away from Blefuscu.
3 – What did Gulliver do to the fleet of Blefuscu ?
ÆHe put chains on the ships and pulled them all to Lilliput.
4 – Why didn't he destroy the ships or kill the sailors?
ÆHe didn't destroy the ships so that the Lilliputians could use them . He didn't kill the sailors as he was kind and merciful and he didn't want to hurt anyone..
5 – How did the soldiers of Blefuscu try to stop Gulliver?
ÆThey shot arrows at him.
6 – What did Gulliver do to protect his eyes?
ÆHe put on his glasses.
7 – Why did the king of Lilliput treat Gulliver as a hero?
ÆAs he brought the ships of Blefuscu so they wouldn't attack them.
8 – Why did the king of Lilliput change his opinion of Gulliver?
ÆBecause Gulliver refused to help him to put his enemies in prison.
9 - Do you think Gulliver was right to refuse to attack Blefuscu and why?
ÆYes, I think so as he promised to defend not to attack others.

ÆThey came to ask him how to end the war peacefully.
